freedom sunday

I was really happy with how things went at the loft last night… I’ll post some photos and thoughts on that later. Already I’m turning my attention to Freedom Sunday on March 25. Maggie and I first learned about Freedom Sunday when we attended church.co.uk this summer in London. That’s when we learned about the Stop The Traffik campaign to raise awareness of human trafficking around the world.
We’re beginning to plan an evening of prayer for an end of slavery at the loft. We’re also thinking about inviting the larger Parkview community to join us. I’ve put together a page over at the loft blog with a bit more info and some stats.
At Sundance a couple months back some of us watched Trade, a film about the sex trade across the US/Mexico border. It was easily the hardest thing I’ve watched in my life. After being confronted with that kind of depravity, and becoming aware of just how large of an epidemic it is, it’s easy for me to feel totally paralyzed. Generally with this type of thing I feel bad for a while and then find something to be distracted by. So, it will be good to set aside some time to look at this injustice and to confess before God our self-centeredness, and plead with him for mercy and justice. Maybe you can mark your calendars and join us in prayer on the 25th.
Once or twice a week we post photos, videos, or updates for our friends and family who are scattered all over the place.
