big storms and hospitable friends

We experienced some major thunderstorms on Thursday evening: winds in the 80 mph range, reported tornadoes, and lot’s of flooding. CNN has the story here. Lot’s of us are without power, and since our house is on well water we are also without water. Our friends Bob and Anna graciously invited us to eat, sleep, and shower at their home until we’re back on line. This morning I stopped by the house and the ComEd trucks were in the church parking lot. One of the linemen told me they hoped to work on the power lines by our house today- they are currently laying on our sidewalk- but wouldn’t make any promises. It would be wonderful to have power back by tomorrow morning, though we do have a good contingency plan in place for our morning services should we not have electricity.
Maggie worked a half day yesterday since her office didn’t have power. We spent a couple hours in the afternoon cleaning up branches from our yard and from the roof. It’s all very exciting… or something.
Once or twice a week we post photos, videos, or updates for our friends and family who are scattered all over the place.
Hi,
I just finished restocking some water in a collection of bottles, for storage. We also have a battery operated radio, and small barbecue we could use in case of an emergency.
I think I’m on Jessica’s space, but that seems to be the way it came up here.
